Church "St. Dimitur", Boboshevo
The old name of the town – Velbuzhd is associated with the battle between Serbs and Bulgarians, which took place in 1330 in the field near the river Struma. There are a number of legends about this battle, some claim that the Bulgarian king Mikhail Shishman was buried in the church of St. George. It is located in the Kyustendil’s neighborhood – Kolusha, situated just a few minutes from the city center. The church has been beautifully restored and its courtyard is maintained with enviable beauty.
Its dating can be traced back to the 11th-12th centuries. Declared as a national cultural monument with great architectural, artistic and historical value. Inside you can see frescoes, dating from the 11th to the 19th century.
In the yard of the church there is a Revival building, which has been a cell school in the past. Nowadays, there is a small museum that houses some of the unique frescoes dismantled by the church.

Although its small size, you will be able to find unique murals, accompanied by a donor inscription dating from year 1488. The importance of the church and its influence on Christianity is evidenced by the fact that the icons from the iconoclastic are presented in the church-monument “St. Alexander Nevsky” as well.
In 1864 is build narthex, which today protects the church from the weather influence. In the past, this has been the place where dissimilar church rituals has taken place.
Only a few meters from the church is the monastery building. Today, the place is ennobled and you can perfectly enjoy a picnic in the separated part. The nature in this region sheds calmness and you can spend a great day with magnificent view of the Boboshevo valley and in the distance – to rise the majestic mountain Rila.
